Crime Returns to New Orleans - from the New York Times. *sigh*

Monday, March 13th

Before being assigned to work on our first house, we went for a walk...



...met two of the hazardous materials recovery crew, who told us their stories...



...admired our new steel toe capped shoes (the girls model their "amys" for the camera)...



...and eventually, got suited up to start work.



We were joining a team who had already been working on the house for a while, and had cleared most of the family's belongings into a big pile on the sidewalk, for collection.







We spent that afternoon tearing down drywall and hauling it outside, pulling nails out of the wooden frame of the house, ripping out insulation, and generally reducing the place to a shell.
